1. Who is responsible?

Keep a Tally is published by Christian Netthöfel, Dortmund, Germany (“we”, “us”); full details are in the Imprint. For privacy questions or requests, contact privacy@netthoefel.it.

2. Information kept on your device

Your progress, best results per level, which districts you have cleared, a resumable level, and your achievements and your sound preferences are stored locally on your device in the app’s settings storage (UserDefaults). The game also keeps a locally cached copy of whether you have bought the full game, so it opens correctly without a connection.

This information is not sent to us or to any server we operate. Deleting the app removes it, subject to iOS backup behaviour.

3. iCloud sync

If you use iCloud on your device, the app syncs progress and achievements between your devices through Apple’s iCloud key-value storage. Apple stores this data under your Apple ID; we do not receive it or have access to it. You can turn this off in iOS Settings under Apple ID → iCloud for the app. See Apple’s iCloud privacy information.

4. Purchases

The opening districts are free. The remaining districts are unlocked by a single one-time in-app purchase. Apple processes the payment and does not give us your payment-card details.

To offer, verify and restore that purchase, the app uses RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier generated for your installation, your purchase and entitlement status, product identifiers, and limited technical information such as app version, device model, operating system version and IP address. It does not receive your name or email address from us.

This processing is necessary to deliver what you bought and to restore it on request (legal basis in the EU: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The app does not use this data for advertising or for tracking. See Apple’s App Store privacy information and the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

5. Anonymous usage statistics

To understand how the game is played and where it can be improved, the app uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service operated by TelemetryDeck GmbH in Germany. The app sends short event signals, for example that a level was started, cleared or restarted (with the level, number of moves, undos and restarts), that an achievement was earned, that the purchase screen was shown, and whether a purchase or restore succeeded or failed. Each signal also carries basic technical information such as app version, operating system version and device model, language and region.

Signals are tied to a user identifier that TelemetryDeck hashes (one-way) before it is stored, so it cannot be traced back to you or your Apple ID, and it is not shared with other apps. We do not send your name, email address, advertising identifier or purchase details to TelemetryDeck, and the data is not used for advertising or for tracking across apps and sites. TelemetryDeck does not store your IP address.

We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the game (legal basis in the EU: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Because the data is anonymous, it is hard to attribute to one person, so we generally cannot look up or delete data about a single user. See the TelemetryDeck Privacy Policy.

6. Sharing, hosting and retention

We do not sell or rent personal information. Data is shared only with Apple (App Store payments, iCloud), RevenueCat (purchase and entitlement management) and TelemetryDeck (anonymous usage statistics), and with authorities or advisers where required by law.

Data on your device stays until you delete the app. RevenueCat keeps purchase and entitlement data for as long as it is needed to restore your purchase, and for up to six years afterwards to resolve issues and defend legal claims. Apple keeps purchase records under its own policies. Service providers may process data in countries other than yours, RevenueCat processes data in the United States; transfers rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR) in our data processing agreement with RevenueCat.

This public page is hosted using GitHub Pages. When you visit it on the web, GitHub may process standard connection and server-log information under the GitHub Privacy Statement. Using the app does not require visiting this page.

7. Children

Keep a Tally is not designed to collect personal information from children. It has no ads, chat, social features or profile creation. Parents and guardians can manage purchase permissions through Apple’s Screen Time and Family Sharing controls.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to receive a portable copy, and to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority (for us, the LDI NRW in Düsseldorf, Germany). Because we hold no personal data ourselves, most requests concern data held by Apple or RevenueCat; we are happy to help you route them. Contact us at the address below.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when features, providers or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised, and material changes will be communicated where required.
